I got a sub from here. When I say it was stuffed...it was STUFFED with deliciousness! I got cookies & cheesecake to go. It was super crowded & it took time to order, then get my food, but it was well worth it. The restaurant is 50's/60s diner cute inside.

Rick's is one of my favorite dessert spots on the planet, let alone in Sacramento! For as long as I've lived here, there's almost always been a line out the door for a late night treat. You want cake? Pie? Brownies? Ice cream (from Gunther's, I might add)? You can have any or all of it here! The glass cases are full of delicious treats of all varieties. I usually order with my eyes and pick a slice that looks divine, but I do have some reliable favorites as well. It's hard to say no to their red velvet cake. It's always a winner! Bonus: We love taking friends and family from out of town here. It's a fun stop for the end of the night and it's cute too!

I tried their carrot cake and lemon raspberry cake and absolutely loved the lemon raspberry cake. The cake was fluffy and the buttercream was well balanced and not too sweet. The lemon flavor was not artificial and I have nothing but praises to sing about this cake. The carrot cake was also good but I preferred the lemon cake. I also tried their chocolate chip cookie and it's also good! It has lots of chocolate throughout and was a good texture. The girls who helped us were so kind, they were extremely patient and answered all of our questions. Highly recommend and would come back!

I was absolutely pleased and loved the cake we got to add to a baby shower dessert table. The service was excellent as was the cake. I asked for the cake basket but with a buttercream outside so that I could place decorations on top. I hadn't had dessert from here in years and was unsure how cake would taste. But it was fantastic!!! Thank you!!!!

This place has a great selection of desserts. They have many kinds of cakes, cheesecakes, cookies and ice cream. They also have deli sandwiches and tea. Their cakes are really tall. The inside of the diner is styled liked a 50s diner. They have a jukebox but it's currently out of order. They have complimentary water for customers and a bathroom here too. The service is quick (depending on what you get). The banana split took a few minutes to put together. The ice cream is Gunther's ice cream! One downside is parking. It is street parking which can be difficult to find if it's a weekend or during other busy times.

Geez, reading through some of the recent low star reviews... y'all are brutal. My recent visit was to grab dessert to-go only so I can't speak to the other food. It was after dinner time on a week night and I was celebrating a friend's birthday. Decided to pop in to Rick's to grab a few slices of cake. There was a decent number of people in line and the interior booths/tables were packed. The line moved pretty quickly, but I didn't mind waiting because there were SO MANY dessert options it was nice having time to make my very important decision. We ordered our selections to-go and rushed home to devour them. My friend is a chocolate fiend and went with a slice of the Chocolate Caramel Cake. It was super rich and moist, he loved it. I went with the tiramisu, a nice chunk out of the sheet-pan style cake. Classic, nothing to complain about. I would definitely order this again. I would say don't let the negative reviews dissuade you. Go for the cakes that are nearly full or coming fresh into the case if you are worried about how long it's been in there.
